Chapter 7
Our book talks about never working harder than your students. Have we found ways to do this? Is it a reality when I leave the school building at the end of the day that I have found a way to put this theme to work? How are we working smarter?

I was recently looking over a classroom management book I used in one of my master's courses. The passage on which I focused discussed the structure of our classrooms. Is my classroom all about me (teacher centered) or are my students stakeholders of the classroom community and of their own learning? We must move toward more student ownership of behavior, academics, failures and successes. Only then can we truly NOT work harder than our students!

ReplyDeleteI'D LIKE TO READ THAT BOOK SOMETIME!
As educators we are pulled in so many different directions. I have learned through the years to start my day with a list of what I want to accomplish. Then I prioritize that list. I ask myself, what will have the greatest positive impact on students?... that goes to the top. It helps me keep things in perspective. Then, at the end of the day (and those of you who know me may find this hard to believe :), my top priority goes to REST!
